Our very own George Murgel, who is a member of the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors, received the Distinguished Examination Service award at the 2019 NCEES annual meeting, held August 14–17, 2019, in Washington, D.C.
Murgel has been supporting the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam for 17 years. He has served as chair and vice chair of the FE Exam Development Committee and as chair of the environmental engineering subcommittee. Since 2012, Murgel has been a member of the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors. He’s served as a member of the Advisory Committee on Council Activities and as vice chair and chair of the Committee on Examinations for Professional Engineers, during this time. As chair, he was consulted by the Committee on Examination Policy and Procedures and the Committee on Examination Audit. He is currently a representative of NCEES on the ABET board of delegates and is committed to advancing licensure.
Murgel promotes engineering licensing exams to university students and faculty as well as proffessionals across Idaho. He also advocates for licensure through his professional affiliations with the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Environmental and Water Resources Institute.
