Those numbers add up to quite the record! On April 5th, 1993, Mike Davis began his journey with HECO. 25 years of designing, calculating, training and building relationships has made Mike a true expert and valued leader in the company. HECO staff love any opportunity to celebrate one another’s achievements, so it is no surprise that the office took a few minutes from the busy work day to show great appreciation for Mike. Always one to get straight to the point, Mike didn’t waste words while expressing his feelings on his long relationship with HECO.
” For me, being at one company for 25 years, really speaks to the fact that HECO is a wonderful place filled with great and talented people. I feel very fortunate and grateful to work with the incredible team we have.” Mike said.
Mike grew up in Wendell Idaho. He attended the college of Southern Idaho and the University of Idaho. He has always enjoyed outdoor activities such as basketball and hiking. Busy as he is at work, he manages to carve out time for hobbies like woodworking and photography. He has created several serviceable tables and bookshelves and is working toward more challenging projects. HECO staff are already trying to talk him into making the office a wood furniture masterpiece. Mike is very popular with his three (soon to be four) young grandchildren. Entertaining them (and keeping them out of trouble) is one of his favorite pastimes.
When asked what made him choose engineering as his career, Mike relayed this story:
” I always loved bridges. I remember I was about five years old when I saw the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls. The beautiful structure stuck in my mind, and when it came time to choose a career, I thought, I want to design and build things like that. So here I am.”
Mike brings integrity and consistency to the everyday workflow at HECO. His attention to detail and pursuit of the very highest standards in each project is inspiring to the entire team. HECO is glad that a love of beautiful bridges led him to become an expert in the Engineering field, and that, for 25 years, he has given his energy and talent to the company. Congratulations on this landmark Mike!
