Water Treatment Facility Design

Olympic National Park, Washington

HECO performed two separate Title 2 services for Olympic National Park for Barnes Point and Kalaloch Water Treatment Facilities.

Kalaloch – This project included the design of a new water treatment building and associated utility connections. This includes connections to the new building for underground and emergency power. Extensive controls design and coordination for connection to new Unitized Water Treatment System controller. Provide full power, lighting, and controls design. Power coordination and tie in of existing wells with new starters and associated controls. Power and control design of associated lift station design.

Barnes Point – Electrical improvements for this project include new LED lighting in the water treatment plant building and on the building’s exterior. New GFCI receptacles in the water lab along with ensuring that proper lighting levels for lab functions are maintained. Survey of existing power feed to the area, NPS generator connections, and transformer back-feeding at the treatment building to determine required upgrades and distribution circuit protection. Design for control system upgrades to provide automatic control of fire well pump, including alarms and notification of fire-well pump activation, from inside the water treatment plant
