Rehabilitation of Longmire Roads Garage

WHO WE ARE

Mount Rainier National Park, Washington

The Longmire Roads Garage (L-215) was constructed in 1931 by the NPS in a similar style to other equipment sheds built in Longmire. The building is 32 feet wide by 116 feet long and serves as the garage and office for the roads crew. The building has gone through numerous renovations over the years. It currently consists of 6 equipment bays, an office, restrooms, a storage room, and a conference/meeting area, but the current configuration was inadequate and created a safety risk for snowplow operators. The purpose of this project was to complete Title II Design Development Services for the proposed project. The design services included: 1) review of government furnished documents, 2) a site visit to the park to inspect and create as-builts of the roads garage and confirm the scope of work with key park personnel, 3) and develop plans and technical specifications to guide park day labor crews in the rehabilitation of the roads garage. The scope of the rehabilitation work shall include all upgrades noted in the 1) previous task order project description, and 2) Letter to SHPO, with certain details gleaned from the Energy Efficiency Report, Schematic Design Drawings, and Photos.

Key elements of the overall scope of the project included a topographical survey, electrical survey, and sewer survey work.
