Eagle Road Underpass Pathway
WHO WE ARE
Eagle, Idaho
This project involved linking three existing pathways on the east and west side of Eagle Road by construction of a pedestrian underpass under Eagle Road. Project highlights include installation of pavement, landscaping, benches, lighting, and railing along the underpass portion of the pathway.
The project passes through the existing bank and riprap along the north bridge abutment and the pathway was excavated into existing fill material on the north bank of the river while a concrete cut off stem was constructed. Riprap armament was relocated on the lower sections of the riverbank.
Approximately 8 feet 4 inches of vertical clearance from the finished pathway surface to the underside of the bridge structure was maintained for bicyclists’ headroom. The project involved establishing survey control to be utilized for the duration of the project, land surveying to determine existing Eagle Road right-of-way and private property lines, topographic surveying for design of the project; and preparation of right-of-way plans.
Several different types of surveying equipment were utilized to complete the project including: GPS for project control, robotic total station with electronic distance measurement for horizontal survey control and topographic data collection, and automatic levels for vertical control.
