Merrill Park Pedestrian Bridge

WHO WE ARE

Eagle, Idaho

HECO Engineers undertook the exciting Merrill Park Pedestrian Bridge project in Eagle, Idaho. This endeavor aimed to enhance connectivity by installing a 185-foot span prefabricated steel truss pedestrian bridge. Additionally, HECO Engineers paved the existing 400 feet of gravel pathway from the Merrill Park entry to the new multi-use bridge, effectively linking the existing pathways on both sides of the North Channel of the Boise River. The project required surveying work and comprehensive design planning to ensure successful implementation.

One crucial aspect of the Merrill Park Pedestrian Bridge project involved establishing survey control that would be utilized throughout the project’s duration. HECO Engineers meticulously conducted land surveying to determine existing property lines and topographic surveying to facilitate the project’s design. This detailed surveying work provided crucial data for the efficient and accurate execution of the project. Utilizing various state-of-the-art surveying equipment, such as GPS for project control, robotic total station with electronic distance measurement for horizontal survey control and topographic data collection, and automatic levels for vertical control, HECO Engineers ensured the precision and reliability of the surveying process.

HECO Engineers played a pivotal role in the Merrill Park Pedestrian Bridge project, offering a comprehensive range of services. Their expertise in project management facilitated smooth coordination and efficient execution of tasks. The project design was meticulously developed to meet the requirements of the site and enhance connectivity for pedestrians. Throughout the construction phase, HECO Engineers provided valuable construction management services, ensuring adherence to the project plan and maintaining high-quality standards. Additionally, a condition survey was conducted, assessing the existing state of the bridge and its surroundings to inform future maintenance and preservation efforts.

Furthermore, HECO Engineers collaborated closely with stakeholders and local authorities to obtain necessary permits and approvals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The project was completed in the winter of 2007, showcasing HECO Engineers’ commitment to delivering successful outcomes within stipulated timelines.

The Merrill Park Pedestrian Bridge now stands as a testament to HECO Engineers’ expertise in creating functional and aesthetically pleasing infrastructure that improves accessibility and enhances the recreational experience for the residents of Eagle, Idaho.
