HECO’s structural engineering team is experienced in consultation, design, and construction management for a variety of government and private clients. We combine innovate engineering and a thorough understanding of construction means and methods to provide efficient and cost-effective designs to architects, contractors, government entities, commercial, and industrial facilities. We have completed the structural design on a variety of projects including marine facilities and docks, large warehouses, national park facilities, and bridges.

We address our client’s need for low life cycle costs, low maintenance, and full functionality through designs using the most applicable materials, including steel, concrete, masonry, and/or timber. HECO follows an integrated design approach on our projects which means our structural engineers work with other engineering disciplines throughout the design process to ensure that the structural design is coordinated with all the other project disciplines.

We provide forensic engineering and structural assessments. We utilize nondestructive testing to gain vital information to understand the existing conditions of the structure and prepare repair recommendations, when needed, to minimize cost to the client. Some of the testing that HECO has experience in are surface penetrating radar (SPR), tactile testing (sound testing for defects), visual inspections, and anchor load testing. This includes full training in Aerial Lift Assessment, Surface Penetrating Radar (SPR), and Non-destructive testing.
